OUR BEHAVIOR AND BEING

When we are a true child of God, our desire should be to be more and more like Christ Jesus. The picture above shows a beautiful reflection as we should be of Jesus Christ’s love.

Ephesians 5:1-2 says, “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

What does that mean? How can we do that? Because we are His children, by God’s grace and power in us, His traits should be showing up in us as we grow stronger in our faith.

We need to read and study God’s Word, the Bible, thinking about who Jesus is and praying to Him, and also, being a part of God’s family of believers in a local church. When we do this, we experience, through the Holy Spirit, the power to imitate Jesus. When we begin behaving more like Jesus, that brings glory to God!

Ephesians 5:8-9 says, “For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true).”

Galatians 5:22-24 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”

Our prayer needs to be, “God help me to become more like Your Son, Jesus, by being filled by and able to walk in Your Spirit. Help me to be obedient and bring You glory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

  1. Sharon, this is very beautiful.  My grandson, Jake, Andy’s youngest, became a Christian several months ago.  He is so full of the Spirit andthis reminds me of him.  He is very active in his church leading the 7th gradeboys and growing the college class they just started.  He will be a senior nextyear at Purdue in electrical engineering.  I will give him this.  Thanks.

    1. That’s great, Carol. I think we met him when Andy took us out in his boat down in Alabama when you let us use your condo. He was a very nice boy. So glad he is following Jesus!
